0:12 that place is near my school
Cool! Saw a short reel from the 80 or 90's on Instagram
Can’t wait for both these spots to open. Glad to see our downtown get exciting new places we can enjoy! Hopefully by this Summer
Is this the same area as the mt. Baldy pipe skaters have been skating since the 60’s? I’m not from the area that’s why I ask. TY!
I became familiar with the airport by watching Abbott and Costello 'Keep 'Em Flying.' Although I never knew there were still a few buildings from that era still standing. I see from Google maps that the gate area with brick columns is there, a hangar, and and a couple of barracks are still there. I wish I knew this last year when I was visiting Rancho Cucamonga. I see the airport has events in May and September. I'll have to go to one soon.
Hasn't even open yet still and they chanced the name already. Any new info?
Might need another update. They have a new sign showing Mule Car Smoke House. Must have sold
I’m so glad that someone invested money in these historical sites and it wasn’t demolished or turned into a church or taco stand ( nothing against taco stands but the city needs variety and more upscale places) Ontario has such a deep history in Southern California! My grandma went to chaffey high school in the late 1940s and raised her family in Ontario up until the 2000s!
Keep sharing...thanks you made my day...much love.👍
Miss the memories and friends Lockheed is Family! ❤
Love it ❤
I love that they kept the building ❤
Such memories growing up. What a waste destroying the history. Save the mansion.
If I was a millionaire you know the place I would totally bring back GUASTI I have many childhood memories there 😊
Need more restaurants downtown and variety. Bring in an Italian joint, comfort food. I belong to the Ontario Masonic Lodge, and we are always looking for a place near by to eat before or after a meeting and there isn't much and for what there is, doesn't stay open late. In addition, with the whole art scene, Pomona has had the art colony for years. Do something original like the old claremont village used to be. Boutiques, restaurants, bars. Like downtown upland is currently. It brings in revenue, and it brings in visitors.
I really love the history lessons you give in your videos. I like to add a bit of history to the places I film at as well. Plus you do such great narration. Big fan here. Jerry James your videos are absolutely fascinating. That is because YOU are a fascinating man.
Way to keep following up Jerry!
Woo hoo! We have been walking by and peering into the windows, and looking at the rear/east side. I am thrilled that we will have a smokehouse restaurant in Ontario. 😃
I can't wait till it opens.
My mother used to go (as a customer) to Richards Beauty College way back in the early 1960's
Yaaay! 👌🏻
Absolutely beautiful building. Glad the city decided not to demolish it and allowed someone’s vision to see it through. Can’t wait to try that rooftop bar.
I wonder if they were given property tax relief as an incentive? The city may issue a condemnation order, but they are seldom ready to "demolish it" because they never budget for that.
@@MrShobar if I remember correctly, and someone can correct me if I’m wrong, I thought the city sold the building at a ridiculously low cost with the agreement the new owner would restore and bring it up to code.
I was Born and Raised in fontana till 12 then moved to one town next to it called Rialto. My aunts an uncles on my dads side went to Fontana high school An a lot of my family on my dad's side still lives in fontana California! I've been to that house its only 20 min from house in rialto that we moved to an i know where it is . I mean grew up going to fontana always to visit family an shop an other things . Yes he had that house built an he had tunnels behind walls so he an his people could get out incase police or anyone wanting to kill him he could escape ! He had houses in different states ! He went Senile and it started rotting his brain an bodily functions in his 40s an dies so many months later at 47! 😮
Rip to the big homie lol boo-boo o’sup
Home 🥹🥲
Ive noticed that many of the downtown shops and businesses are Latino influenced which makes sense for Ontarios local and current community. When did that begin to take place? When I look at your vintage photos the same area looks very Anglo back then. 🤔
That tall chimney was for the exhaust on the engine test cell where they ran the engines after performing maintenance
It has been commented that the new apartments will be "market priced housing."
Sure not the same little town I grew up in. Sad. 😢
Great video. Thanks for the link. It's very helpful. 👍🏻
How about that restaurant that's being built right down the street, u did a video on it not to long ago. Do u know when it's going to be done? They started working on it before COVID hit. It's been a while.
The parking is going to be horrific now for all the summer events they have. The apartment renters are going to take up that entire parking structure 😕
Ikr? I thought the parking was for public use only now it’s going to be used for both? 🤦🤔
If I’m not mistaken, they’re going to build another parking garage off Sultana by where the fire station currently sits.
I see much more traffic and even less available street parking in the area. That parking structure is not big enough for that area and the housing.
If I’m not mistaken, they’re going to build another parking structure where the current fire station sits. But they’re building the new station first off sultana and D
Glad to see more housing and retail in the downtown area. We need more of this and less warehouses.
Wow they’re working fast
Wow cool I’m in search of Euclid Ave pics from 70s and 80s I worked at Rogers flower shop at Euclid and DST, across from Sears next door was Bank of America.. in 81- 91 . Remember Mollys? The golden web, Valley Dept Store
I remember it well! Ate there many many times, Awesome! Wish I had saved a menu, must be one somewhere. Ray was a master chef and his food was perfect every time. I still miss it! Edna always seated you, always after a long wait, it was the place to eat, back in the day.
Memories, grandma and i went there alot in the early 70s.
❤ that will forever be my home town I grew up in my grandmother house still stands in gusti … unfortunately my moms house was destroyed but I have lots of great memories 😢
You never disappoint with your videos, another great one... keep them coming 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thanks for including us Jerry! We love this building and it was really fun talking with you! Keep making these awesome videos and sharing your knowledge with the community!
It was great visiting today. We will be back. 😊
I am so glad you featured this. I am going to take a walk over to check it out.
Gemmels ran the Rexall Pharmacy in Ontario for many years. 1:21. Karl's Shoes. Harry Karl was another of Debbie Reynold's husbands. 1:46 Wight's was a jewelery store. I went to school with Carl Wight. Thanks again Jerry.
That's Euclid
Who remembers the Holt Hookers? LOL
My Mom worked at The Magic Lamp from 80-85 if I remember correctly, many memories there.
Lived in Rancho Cucamonga 36 years, from 1978 to 2014. Moved there from Diamond Bar when I was around 3.
Like they need another Taco Stand in Ontario. Grinder Haven was Great. There Used to be a Taco Lita on The NW corner of San Antonio and Holt years ago. There is still a Taco Lita in Arcadia on Duarte Rd. It's the last one. Love their Tacos and Burritos there plus the Legendary Hot Sauce. I used to go there and have 4 Tacos and a Big Burrito.
At 2.51 The Noble Inn was on Foothill Just East of Campus on the North Side. It was a popular Hang out.
I have Several Copies of this Picture of the Hotel my Dad took back in the 50s. I think I have the negatives also.
